There have been several over my years. Gunsynd was my favourite. He was purchased for $1300, came from Queensland, was successful away from home, was ridden by great jockeys, was a grey, changed trainers in sensational circumstances and won over a range of distances. Yet when ever I backed him to win I always seemed to get good odds. I was working overseas in the early 80s and used to visit the local newsagency because they sold the Australian Post Magazine. One day I picked it up to see that Gunsynd had died and I can still remember the hollow feeling that it created. Silly isn't it?Mehaulnoreply@blogger.com
