Liveblog Scorched... anyone want to contribute here...

Anyone want to be in it?

It's on.

It's corny.

I can't do it on my own, I can barely see the teev from here... (probably a good thing)

Georgie Parker is the Premier of NSW. (RAOTFLMAO - if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all)

Oh, look. They're using modelling to figure out what the fire's going to do.

OK, I have some takers one taker...
Boy on a Bike:
I was thinking of doing this myself, but you beat me to it.
I loved being preached to on six different issues in the first two minutes. That really set the tone.
I prefer Georgie Parker to the alternative - using someone like Carmen Lawrence for instance.
I hear ya, Boy! Though Georgie Parker is just so good as, er, Georgie Parker.
Boy on a Bike:
Having seen a few bits of it, I reckon Tim deliberately
crashed his server. I bet he got a peek at a preview tape and freaked out and
threw a cup of coffee onto the hard drive.
Boy, I just got out of the shower where I was, seriously, thinking the same thing!
Hmm.
A truck full of gas cylinders has just gone off at the hospital... maybe the show's over now?
Oh dear, does it go for another hour...

Boy:
I've flipped over to Criminal Minds on channel 7. I have to clean up dribble and drool all day. Having to watch more of it pouring out of the TV is too much to bear.
Hey! I didn't know you worked for Fairfax... or ABC?!

I guess it's now a deadblog, huh?

No, wait!

Wizzard of Aus Anonymous (tell me a name please!) says:
Scorched comment because the main live blog post at Tim Blair's is dead?
Peak Water Crisis???
Did this specudrama/ docuganda heap of hippo droppings actually suggest that a city on the sea could actually have a Peak Water Crisis?
Damn, they are either idiots or think we are even more idiotic than usual...
Someone's idiotic, I don't think it's us... ridiculing the programme.

And I think Georgie is an ALP Premier... the desal water doesn't feed the western grid, so the whole place is an inferno! B'buh Blacktown... though some of these people might think that anywhere west of Balmain is the Western Suburbs...

Wizzard of Aus said:
So, basically what they are saying is that Georgie Parker's character is the Sydneysider equivalent of Ray Nagin?
Yup. I can believe that - corruption, lack of foresight, and running around like a chook with it's head and left leg chopped off (i.e lots of blood, squawking and always turning more to the left...)
Sounds about right to me, Wizz.

Bruce adds:
I channel-surfed thru 'Scor' once or twice: saw footage from the Canberra fires (caused by econut neglect of back-burning) and some 'raw' hand-held Blair-Witch-Project blatant ripoff footage.
I have channel 31 TVS on my remote and that's what I often watch - tonite a David Niven movie, 'The Lady Says No', very dated. But next week its (yum) Sophia Loren in 'Two Women' - must see.
I love David Niven... excellent movies.

The desal water wasn't available to anyone west of the Harbour Bridge... Yup. "West" is west of the Harbour Bridge... I knew it.

Wizzard of Aus:
What the everloving HELL?
www.scorched.tv?
It goes on?
"Cassie has dreams"???
This is a mixture of pure, unadulterated, 150 proof stupidity and distilled essence of propaganda...
That does it. I'm locking the doors and windows. If there are people out there stupid enough to invest money in this crapaganda, they're probably stupid enough to believe that it is true.
Goodnight...
Yes, Wizz. It's interactive. With fake websites set up for all the companies involved in the "movie" (docudrama? surely they jest!).

Though in the fineprint at the end, the "wrap up", I noticed the journalist was awarded a posthumous Walkley.

Now the Walkleys aren't being sponsored, will they still be happening in the future?

Boy on a Bike:
Like many Australian series, it was all shot around the lefty enclaves of Balmain and Leichhardt. I recognised quite a few of the locations, since I ride past them all the time.
I saw a film crew in Concord last week, doing a shoot on Majors Bay Rd. The crew must have recieved hardship pay for travelling so far west.

I thought so!

Skeeter:
Sorry Kae. The Skeeter household's box is hard-wired to Midsomer Murders in that time slot. Mrs Skeeter reports that last night's episode of MM was particularly bad — the thin plot was grossly over-acted — but it was not bad enough to tempt her into switching to Scorched.

Don't be, Skeets. It was a shocker.

Update: Blair's back on the air and it appears that Scorched was Drenched!

A pity -- you Australians used to do this sort of thing much better.
