Costa quits

Controversial former treasurer Michael Costa has resigned from New South Wales politics just hours before the new Premier faces his first Question Time in the top job.

Mr Costa faxed his resignation from State Parliament to NSW Governor Marie Bashir last night, after being sacked as treasurer earlier this month following two years in the position.

An associate related to me that Costa phoned him about a paper he wrote criticizing the unions. Costa was angry until the paper was explained to him, then he cooled off and said that the author had a point. The author ascertained that Costa was a hothead (not quite his words, but they'll do). Five years later Costa was the treasurer.

I told the author:

It appears that being a member of the ALP is like smoking dope.

The harder you suck, the higher you get.
