"swooning frenzy over someone who hasn't done anything"

The quote in full from Peter Hitchens.:

The swooning frenzy over the choice of Barack Obama as President of the United States must be one of the most absurd waves of self-deception and swirling fantasy ever to sweep through an advanced civilisation. At least Mandela-worship – its nearest equivalent – is focused on a man who actually did something.
I think that sums up the adoration situation rather well.

Found over at Paco's place.

Yes and so does this

Mind you we have seen the same sort of thing here with Whitlam. And even now he still has his worshipers after all this time and his disastrous albeit at times entertaining stint in government. (His term was only entertaining from trying to guess what could possibly happen next).

Obama will either succeed or fail depending on the policies he adopts and many of those policies such as emissions trading have the potential to cripple the US.

Now what was that Krudd said about John Howard's comments that terrorists would welcome an Obama win. Has something changed? If so, what?

Yes I thought PH's article hit the spot.

Also found an article on Instapundit I thought you'd like, Kae:

"If you think the causes of the financial crisis are complicated, just wait until we start trading carbon."
