Cow farts worth $US175p/a

Call this one of the newest and innovative ways your government has come up with to battle greenhouse gas emissions.
Call this one of the newest and innovative ways your government has come up with to battle greenhouse gas emissions fleece punters.
There, that's fixed.

The New York Farm Bureau assigned a price tag to the cost of greenhouse gas regulation by the EPA in a release last month.

“The tax for dairy cows could be $175 per cow, and $87.50 per head of beef cattle. The tax on hogs would upwards of $20 per hog,” the release said. “Any operation with more than 25 dairy cows, 50 beef cattle or 200 hogs would have to obtain permits.”
More here.

As far as I am concerned it is way past time for those in government and others of the higher eschelons echelons to speak out against AGW and the extortion being made and proposed in its name.

Thanks to Pogs. And Drudge.

The mind boggles kae.
As to:
"those in government and others of the higher eschelons to speak out against AGW and the extortion being made and proposed in its name."

Don't hold your breath, if there is a chance of pilfering money from the plebs, all politicians are alike.

Do you think the prices will not reflect these taxes? Yea, and pigs fly as well as fart!

I have to say I never was a great fan of JWH, because of his sly ways to increase taxes in his early years as treasurer and PM,
but to his credit, in later years he realised where this money came from in the first place, and tried to return it to us as tax cuts.

Echelon. Arrgh! I'm gonna have to fix that.

I'm constantly amazed at how charging more for something is not going to cost us more. Who on earth do they think pays for these cost increases?

But no, the Powers That Be seem to be presenting the foolish idea that it won't cost.

A bit like selling of the revenue part of the electricity generation process. So now power costs more. It was supposed to make it cheaper, but when you introduce another set of wallets to fill (employees), and shareholders, of course it's going to cost more.

Don't start me on deregulation of milk - milk cost four times more than it used to, and the farmers have increased their cut by approximately, er, well, wasn't it about zero?

Shouldn't that be "hawgs" instead of "hogs"?

First the government subisidizes the raising of cows, then they tax cow farts, then they give away free goverment cheese. It makes perfect sense.

Tax on animal farts? Leave it to New Yorkers (specifically, Manhattanites). I say, let 'em pay their weight in gold for pork chops! Idiots.
