“Some people are like Slinkies - not really good for anything,
but you still can't help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs.”
Gidday KaeGreat Video. This lady was an Amazing performer - was still working last year (at age 80) in the Movie "And Then Came Love". She could sing in many languages, and probably recorded more songs in French than English.Part of the reason for this was that she got the entertainment establishment in the US offside in 1968. She made comments about Vietnam to Lady Bird Johnson at a White House luncheon which reduced the first lady to tears. She was effectively black-listed for a time, and forced to perform overseas (mostly France. Her vocal style was unique. Her sessions with small jazz combos was, IMHO, her best work. There will never be another Eartha.I was listening to talk-back radio on the day she died (Christmas Day). A segment was devoted to Eartha. One woman phoned in and relayed a story about attending an Eartha Kitt concert with her husband in Sydney. They had front row seats, and during a break between numbers, her husband winked at Eartha. She paused, looked him right in the eye, and purred into the Mike "Honey, you couldn't afford me".
