Bushfires and Floods

Professor Mark Adams from the Bushfire Cooperative Research Centre.

Spruiking the cause of the more severe bushfires is AGW. Drought caused by AGW. It's not going to get better, it's going to get worse.

Yeah, there's never been bushfires in Australia prior to AGW.

I guess there's a lot of funding in the Bushfire Cooperative Research Centre if it's connected with AGW.

Yeah. Yeah. Whatever.

Now on Landline (which I stopped watching some time ago because of the AGW crap they were spruiking), Kerry Longergan has just interviewed Roger Stone, the Landline weather man, who said it isn't unusual for there to be monsoonal flooding in the north and heat waves in the south of Australia. He did, however, say that it was exceptionally hot in the south.

Just remember this:

I love a sunburnt country,
A land of sweeping plains,
Of ragged mountain ranges,
Of droughts and flooding rains.
I love her far horizons,
I love her jewel-sea,
Her beauty and her terror -
The wide brown land for me!

Core of my heart, my country!
Her pitiless blue sky,
When sick at heart, around us,
We see the cattle die -
But then the grey clouds gather,
And we can bless again
The drumming of an army,
The steady, soaking rain.

The great thing is that, for a $79 air ticket, you can see the whole lot of that in one day.
In fact, sometimes you can see it all in one day without leaving Melbourne.
