Wot?

Queensland Ambulance officers will receive self defence training.

So they can talk their way out of difficult situations like this.

That's what the news bite said, fair dinkum! It's for real, look:

AMBULANCE officers on the Gold Coast could be coached in "verbal judo" as a form of self defence when under threat on the job.

From the first link ..Meanwhile, the union representing ambulance officers says laws introduced last year to protect emergency service workers from violence are not working.

Well how about that! I wonder why?
