Shouting at the radio

At work I'm forced to listen to music radio. Fine. But I prefer to hear what's going on, listening to ABC Local. Aarrgh, I know, I'm turning into my parents, that's sad isn't it! I need to shout myself a little tranny or something to listen to at work... or remember to take my earphones so I can listen to the radio on line.

I was home sick all weekend and from work on Monday and didn't get out to the shops until late so I happened to catch some of PM... and it made me shout at the radio.

Monday
This one particularly got me shouting, the word shouted many times was "bullshit", particularly where an addict is telling us that heroin is fine, it's harmless, heroin addicts don't hurt anyone... later, a doctor explains why heroin is so bad.

Doctors and users say heroin overdose cases are on the rise
Over the last six months doctors say heroin has been making a comeback. But despite an increase in overdoses, there are some who say heroin should be legalised.

Tuesday
Islamic school rejected
The Quranic Society has lost its battle to build a $19-million Islamic school near Camden in south-western Sydney. The New South Wales Land and Environment Court has knocked back the application on the grounds that the proposal was not suitable for the rural zoning of the land. The Quaranic Society says it has wasted hundreds of thousands of dollars in application costs, but it won't appeal the decision.

New Zealand court hears man murdered wife because she didn't given him a son
The murder trial of the New Zealand man who abandoned his three-year-old daughter at a Melbourne train station has begun in Auckland. Nai Yin Xue is probably best remembered from the CCTV vision from Southern Cross Railway station, which showed him letting go of his toddler's hand and walking away. Today the High Court in Auckland heard that before dumping his daughter, Xue had murdered his wife because he was angry she hadn't given him a son.

I have a glitch in my system, Kae. I don't "get" most music. Don't enjoy it at all, it's an irritating noise. SOME reaches me and touches me, particularly a few songs from my childhood (Snoopy vs the Red Baron) or patriotic music...and I kinda like some of my son-in-law's headbanger music. I listen to political talk, sports talk, and gardening/finance talk if I've got the radio on.

Is your name “crash”?

If you listen to the ABC all day long, you’ll progress through anger, denial and then with a little bit too much thought, arrive at Stockholm Syndrome.

Don’t be a comfortable prisoner.

I admire how you argue with the warden, but can’t you just switch channels instead?

Ha! How interesting - there is no appeal allowed.

Typical ABC to add a remark like this as if our Quaranic friends would choose not to appeal!

Hi kae, Hope you are feeling better!

Take the ABC in small doses, it's poison!

Re. heroin, it was legal for a long time and very cheap, I wonder if someone knows when it was banned and what were the reasons? I mean the "real" reasons?

I know opium was frowned upon by the families of users, even when it was legal in China and other places because the users, would have to sleep off the effect and were out of the work force for most of the time.
