Bolta on Ch 9 this morning pointed out that we have entered an age of un-enlightenment in the 40 years since the moon landing. We now have a significant proportion of earthlings who have total faith in outrageous and thoroughly debunked scams. But a recent poll in the UK showed that 25% believe the moon landing was faked by the Americans.
I am proud to say that I have shaken hands with Neil Armstrong. He presented me with a fragment of history from the moon landing that I treasure to this day. It is one frame of the 16 mm film that was exposed on the moon during the landing. The emulsion has been removed and the film is mounted on a certificate signed by Neil Armstrong, Edwin Aldrin and Michael Collins.

Mr. H and I were still newlyweds that summer. We went to a drive in movie that night, and to this day we don't know what movie we went to see because we spent the entire evening looking up at the moon, knowing there was an actual human being up there.

Skeeter, that's some fantastic souvenir!

I remember a similar situation with my family, we looked at the moon that night and Dad kept telling us that it was history being made (he used to say that a lot when we were kids... about all sorts of events), it was amazing to think that humans were on the moon. We bought the newspapers with the wrap around covers of colour photos of Earth from space and pictures of the landing from the video.
Hard to relate that it's 40 years ago!

Way too little attribution to von Braun in the meeja - without his Saturn V they'd never have fulfilled Kennedy's wish by the end of the decade; the Ruskis' expert died prematurely before they perfected their M? series; otherwise, they may have beaten the yanks there, too ...
