I grew up with Don Lane (and Moonface).
My father used to work at the local Sports Club and operate their lights during their shows. Dad met Don Lane (amongst other entertainers), and I always remember that he said that Don was a great bloke to work with.
Mum always thought he was a good sort... they're very close in age.

Never had the pleasure of seeing him. TV wasn't available to most of Australia until after he was off the air.
I'd have barely heard of him, except for articles in women's magazines, and they were rather confusing, as they assumed the reader knew who he was. Often they didn't even mention what he was famous for. They could have at least said he was a TV star.
Kae, he was unassuming and walked his dogs in our suburb when he lived there with his son. But for the voice he was not recognisable in his casual wear.
