In the year to 1 July 2009, our (SEQ) domestic tariff ($ per kWh) increased by 34% above the 30 June 2008 rate. That increase was largely because the Qld generators have stopped spending money on coal-fired energy and are replacing it with more expensive gas-fired generators in anticipation of the ETS.
Notice that the media has built a nice decorative screen to hide the current elephant in the room — the East Anglia CRU leaks.
But now the elephant has started to crap and piss on the carpet.
The stench is creeping through the screen and even the ABC will have to do something about it soon.
