60 Minutes - what's that thing around Bieber's neck?

That boy needs to be educated if it's what I think it is.

Don't watch 60 Minutes but spotted the US based promo shots. Is this the next generation of Che the murderer t-shirts?

Yeah, Bernadette, cloth won't kill you but stupidity (and ignorance of what you are displaying) gives it a pretty good leg up.

“Better to die standing, than to live on your knees.”

What's "stupid" about that?

I hardly ever read your notes numbers but this time I can't resist.

When you're dead you're dead!

As long as you are alive even if on your knees, you have a chance!

1. We used to call them "shemaghs".
2. See here: http://www.thekef.com/
3. Numbers-Boy, you should do some research and then tell us from what 'Che' was plagiarizing.

Cheers

Minicapt - the bloke writes his own parody! By his own admission he was miserable as a soldier for 40 odd weeks, 1% of his life, and that has propelled little n numbers for the 40 odd years since, chip on shoulder 'n all.

I was a bit quizzical of this bloke who wrote so cynically a year or so back but then I read other fellas who knew of him, who demolished his fanciful claims and then enjoyed a splendid giggle at his puerility.

Stuck in a time warp of victimhood and cannot let it go by continually referring back to it. Offers him some sort of identity I guess.

In this world that has moved on he adds nothing of value to advance knowledge and understanding, a bit like your average public service teacher really, and 'tis not worth noticing his presence, mate.

You've just written 145 words of "not worth noticing" mate.
:-D

FWIW, the "die on your feet" quote was by Emilio Zapata, Mexican revolutionary, who died in 1919, nearly ten years before Guevara was born.

Guevara personally ensured that many of his opponents "died on their feet". He was fond of summary firing squads.

REMFs are always worth noticing; one occasionally needs someone to do some 'testing for mines'. And Green voters require no cammo.

I'm an Australian, so the term REMF is wasted on me. That's used by septics (and Hosers apparently). The word used here is Pogo, if you think my participation in operation Finschhafen, and Concrete 1 and 2, from March to June 1970 as a rifleman in 5 platoon B Coy qualifies.
BTW - that AFV in your avatar - was it ever in a two-way range somewhere? I didn't see any Canucks in Vietnam.

Minicapt said...

Canucks in Vietnam? You really weren't paying attention.
As for my pict, yes it did, but not when I was in it. Which is why I don't spend a lot of time trying to persuade people that hearing about being shot at is just like being there. I don't believe your claims.

"I don't believe your claims"
I'm not sure what claims you're referring to, but if you have doubts about my service, you're welcome to check - http://www.vietnamroll.gov.au/veteransearch.aspx
It's interesting that you question my service on the basis of my opinions. It reveals a particularly obnoxious form of bigotry.

Ooooh - as I watch the rugby I see an interesting wee tantrum.

"It reveals a particularly obnoxious form of bigotry" - in what manner? What part, specifically, of Minicapt's comment is "bigotry"?

Please make your case, army ID no from a very long time ago, in detail and clearly. That's the least you can attempt after opening yourself for criticism by tossing in "was it ever in a two-way range somewhere? I didn't see any Canucks in Vietnam."

From an on-line dictionary –

“Bigoted attitudes; intolerance toward those who hold different opinions from oneself.”

Minicapt’s comment –

“I don't believe your claims”.

The comment is obnoxious. I’m called a liar because I express a different opinion from his. My service is not a “claim” – it’s reality.

It’s a cowardly smear.

Many Vietnam Veterans (including myself) copped abuse from opponents of the war when we were RTAd. It was a long time ago, but was wrong – but at least those perpetrators were honest.

To be subject to ad hominem abuse 40 years after the event, (specifically ridiculing my service) from someone whom I’d assume was a supporter of our involvement, is the height of hypocrisy. The stench lingers.

Clear and specific enough?

Numbers-Boy, you should brush up on your command of 'le langue anglais'. I can believe you were a school teacher because I have dealt with clueless imbeciles who are products of the modern pedological nomenklatura. You may take comfort in the sparse knowledge that you are not alone.

Cheers

It's actually "la langue francais"(feminine article).
Your French is atrocious. Your command of English isn't much better.
