Consequences

I wonder if Nick D'Arcy ever thought there would be consequences to assaulting his swim team mate? He pleaded guilty to the 2008 assault in 2009 and was given a suspended jail sentence of just over 12 months and placed on a good behaviour bond. He then lost his job. After the assault D'Arcy lost his place in the 2008 Beijing Olympics and was excluded from Australia's world championship swimming team in 2009.

Civil action has now been taken by Simon Cowley for damages.

Some may say that D'Arcy has paid enough, however, I seem to recall that he had a previous assault which was covered up by his family. The previous assult was a similar king hit ambush to the one he launched on Simon Cowley. He doesn't seem to have learnt  anything from his parents protecting him from consequences of his actions. He doesn't seem to have had  an attitudinal change from the consequences of the assault for which he was charged stating "It seemed like a good idea at the time."
