Never been keen on planes and ferris wheels? I know why
Linky
Update:
Many MSM outlets are reporting it as an "ultralight aircraft", perhaps they should get their terminology correct. It's a light aircraft.
And a bloody strong ferris wheel!

Heads or Tails? Tails you hang on
In the course of searching the web for interesting items yesterday, and listening to what was happening on the TV, I found an interesting item....
Click and search for Horton.
A lucky escape!
The whole item is interesting and if you have time perhaps you could read it?

Poor woman
A woman fell down an 18m opal mine shaft and survived four days in the well-like mine shaft.
She has deep cuts and abrasions, a fractured base of the skull and a fractured sternum (breastbone).
The woman was only found because she didn't turn up to dinner with a dear friend. The search was called four days after she went missing.
She was walking her dog and turned to look back at the dog and that's when she fell down the mine shaft.
For anyone who isn't familiar with Lightning Ridge, miners dig holes all over the place, they're only about two foot six inches in diameter (which probably saved the woman's life), because they're looking for that elusive vein.
NSW Police Media Release, more at news.com.au, with photo.

Watching the special on 7 about the Plane on the Hudson.
Brace for Impact: Inside The Hudson Plane Crash
This is a wonderful story of survival, I had goosebumps when I saw it after it happened, and the goosebumps are back again!

Amazing kids! Narrow escapes
Boys rescue swimmer. Lots more here. On the Northcliffe Beach, Gold Coast.
Boy saves siblings from kidnappers - the eldest child, 11 years old, kept a cool head and saved his siblings from being kidnapped in a carjacking. More here. This was in MELBOURNE!
Boy hit by surfboard, skull crushed. He can't wait to get back into the water, there's a surf competition on Tuesday, but he has to stay out of the water for six weeks! (With picture, OWCH! That's some scar to make a story about.)
