Rudd's green gloss loses it's sheen

Janet Albrechtsen counts the cost of Rudd's green promises.

Unfortunately, it is becoming clear that Rudd's climate change policies were a welter of half-truths and platitutes dipped in soaring rhetoric to make them saleable. But now that the glossy pre-election promises are being analysed, probed and costed, the Rudd Government's carefully constructed appeal to environmental morality is unravelling.

Rudd's a fool. They got the job applications mixed up - he applied to be court jester.

Hey kae,

"You do the role of the court jester a disservice," he says putting on his court jester's outfit from a previous life.

Many court jesters were extremely intelligent and sensitive to the political and social trends of their eras. Their skilled entertainments might have included clever or subtle gibes at the enemies of the king, along with commentary on general problems in society. A court jester could also purely entertain, of course, with acrobatics, music, silly songs, and many jesters or buffoons did just that during periods of uncertainty and fear.

Krudd is anything but that.

Janet Albrechtsen is right. However, give them a month before Penny Wong releases her plan... then the real fun will start and the party will be well and truly over.

Well, Kev's got the "silly songs" down pat - heard his speeches? The "acrobatics" - seen his flip-flopping, and he's certainly been generating his fair share of uncertainty and fear...
hmmmm.
Are you saying he got the PMship because he's too DUMB to be the court jester...

I despair!

CSIRO's being gutted to pay for Wong's new AGW agency - poetic justice to those who didn't speak out about Big Green(TM)?

I wouldn’t despair over Krudd. That would be a waste.

My point (actually in jest) was that the characteristics you describe are only part of the role of a court jester. Sure Krudd can be described that way ... but he is completely lacking in other 'jester' areas, like introducing alternative points of view, challenging the mantras of the day and so on.

I was only saying that Court Jesters played many roles and Rudd, if transported into that role, would be a complete failure.

He is a process man, a control freak and not much else except that he has a glass jaw and is also known for telling porkies. Hey I wonder if I just made an Islamic comment? Maybe I should mind my ps and qs.

I despair he got either job.
Surely there was some other job that they could have found him... janitor? No, that's no good. He'd have to DO something in that job.
I checked out that site you linked to a few days ago!
