A story to warm your heart

Hello, here's a story to touch your heart

In 1986, Peter Davies was on holiday in Kenya after graduating from Northwestern University .

On a hike through the bush, he came across a young bull elephant standing with one leg raised in the air. The elephant seemed distressed, so Peter approached it very carefully.

He got down on one knee, inspected the elephants foot, and found a large piece of wood deeply embedded in it. As carefully and as gently as he could, Peter worked the wood out with his knife, after which the elephant gingerly put down its foot. The elephant turned to face the man, and with a rather curious look on its face, stared at him for several tense moments. Peter stood frozen, thinking of nothing else but being trampled. Eventually the elephant trumpeted loudly, turned, and walked away. Peter never forgot that elephant or the events of that day.

Twenty years later, Peter was walking through the Chicago Zoo with his teenage son. As they approached the elephant enclosure, one of the creatures turned and walked over to near where Peter and his son Cameron were standing. The large bull elephant stared at Peter, lifted its front foot off the ground, then put it down. The elephant did that several times then trumpeted loudly, all the while staring at the man.

Remembering the encounter in 1986, Peter could not help wondering if this was the same elephant. Peter summoned up his courage, climbed over the railing, and made his way into the enclosure. He walked right up to the elephant and stared back in wonder. The elephant trumpeted again, wrapped its trunk around one of Peter legs and slammed him against the railing, killing him instantly.

Probably wasn't the same elephant .

This is for all of my friends who send me those heart-warming bullsh*t stories.
Here's my poochie-moochers.
Told you she was a jumper!

As you can see, Snopes denies the multiple truths on Sen Obama. Deniers I'd say ...

Cheers

Over a career of seeing off the Queen’s foes, I’ve been both a single man and a married one. Whilst the single life makes going away a matter of throwing a kit-bag over your shoulder and marching to the sound of the guns, it also makes coming home a bit of an anti-climax. Being married with a family and dogs makes going away an arduous affair. Detailed preparations need to be made for long absences, and there is always a process of grieving that occurs. Coming home though is made that much more pleasurable for the reaction of all as you stroll back in through the door. My dogs go absolutely bananas. That video is a scene that has played itself out at my front door any number of times.

I have two dogs, one is 14 years old, deaf and blind but otherwise OK, I think. The other is almost 7 years old, she's a jumper. She'll jump five feet, just springing off the ground - and she's only a kelpie/cattledog cross.
I go to work every day and they give me the same welcome every afternoon.
In fact, if I just go out the back door any time the junior member of the family goes bananas, and leaps into the air. She's a hoot.

Hang on, I'll stick their pix up on the thread here.
