Dr Albrechtsen has a chat... just lay down on the couch

Blog therapy.

It appears that blogging is therapy... for the blogger as well as the commenters.

Blogging, at least in my case, is akin to a public health service. It helps keep some people sane. Rather than kick the dog, or slap the girlfriend/boyfriend, they click on a JA blog and unleash their inner rage in cyberspace. Or, if they need to check just how high their blood pressure can rise without causing a health problem, they visit my blog and let the rising anger test the limits of their blood pressure. Of course, it doesn’t work for everyone. Christine, for example, had this to say a few weeks back: “I must be a masochist - reading even the little I do of your work makes me feel slightly ill.”

Causing the odd illness aside, mostly I detect a healthy need to vent anger among so many who comment. Like a good cry, a decent vent of emotion can leave you feeling much better. Even the masochist Christine surely felt a little better.

How lucky you are that the patronising Christine not only visits your blog, but that she deigns fit to comment. You are truly fortunate. The reward being you have made this cow feel ill. Well done. Mehaul

Hi kae,
Well if she was upset by your blog I wonder what she likes to read?

No, Christine doesn't visit my blog, thank heaven. She visits Janet Albrechtsen's blog, and doesn't like it.

Anyone else out there using Blogger had problems with two windows opening up when they try to make a comment on any blogger site?

Yes

LOL

Oh Kaboom!

Do you find two open at once, you'll start to write in the first one and suddenly a second one opens and you lose the bit you've written (usually only a few letters).

After a brief visit to the comments on Janet Albrechsten's blog, I can see why she is wondering why she bothers.
I noticed a supportive comment from an internet friend, Don Dix, and a number of adverse responses to his comment. including this one:

Bullshit Don Dix. This woman works for THE most evil person currently residing on mother Earth and she’s going out of her way to mind fuck the people of this country without one single moral concern for their welfare.Wake up you fool.

Whoo hee! Janet has obviously disturbed a nest of nasties.

Err, I thought George.W.Bush was officially the most evil person on "mother" Earth?

(Mass murdering African leaders need not apply for evil status, apparently.)

When the hell did Albrechsen get such a massive promotion that she now works for Bush?

(For the simpletons: //end sarcasm.)

Albrechtson may have a point that being able to vent rage in blog comments is like a psychic safety valve. I can't say. But I find it extremely disturbing that are so many people who need that. You have to wonder how many of them keep it bottled up in their real lives, and what happens when they finally explode.

Maybe so if there were millions of vent / rage filled blogs Rebecca, but most blogs show no signs of rage, or even venting, they're just a bit of a rant, sharing opinions and thoughts. No different to what people do in normal day to day conversation. Pretty harmless stuff, not indicative of a rage repressed populace.
