Role model pales

It seems that the first lady, who everyone keeps pointing out is black (like the Prez, I know it's a shock!), is paling.

It's been pointed out to me by a friend who sent this link.

And then I found this, too. Yeah, it is the WaPo, but hey...

But what's up with the café-au-lait shading? The wax first lady looks a good couple of shades lighter than her biracial husband. She's immortalized in a honey hue that has absolutely nothing to do with her richly mahogany reality.
