It's one of the biggest issues in the election campaign. While Australia spends millions of dollars to stop the flow of asylum seeker boats, its efforts are constantly undermined by criminals and corrupt military and government officials. These operators have worked in secret... until now.
Four Corners has caught them on camera.
Most asylum seekers are terrified to take on the people smugglers. Reporter Sarah Ferguson meets one who is not. This asylum seeker is determined to expose the people smugglers who use refugees as "commodities". In a series of hidden camera stings, the smugglers and their accomplices are filmed talking about boats, bribes and Australian border security.

4 Corners Monday
Should be interesting, just saw the shorts for it... people saying they'll not vote Labor again... It appears it's about the NSW government.
I can't see how NSW's ALP government is any different to the other ALP governments around Australia, and especially in Canberra. But I guess if I watch it Imight see tomorrow night.

OK it's on in Qld now...
Strewth, the demise of Morris Iemma - No Honour Among....
Watching this program it seems there is an ALP blueprint for pissing money up against the wall whilst not really doing anything. Surely the tax base has risen enough to support infrastructure?
How interesting, the solution provided by Rees is a tunnel and rail line between the city and the inner city - CBD Metro - wow, that's really going to help the people without any public transport at all.
Balmain Tigers' football club seems to be getting a new club on the deal - the inner western suburbs station will be constructed on the site. Members are angry, they feel the deal has been done and they had no input. A bike shop owner, operating for 36 years, was offered over $1M by Wests Development, but now that amount has shrunk by several hundred thousand dollars.
The "Metro" as it's called is not required, it is in the inner city where public transport abounds.
I'd say I can't believe it, but unfortunately, I do.

I wonder how much this farce has already cost?
Meanwhile, a new development north west of Sydney, The Ponds, is planned and in the making. It will be the size of Canberra. There is no public transport.

I'd like to say that the ALP is toast, but...

The Price We Pay
Interesting.
I've noticed that the farmers aren't getting much more than they have over the last 20 years for their produce, and the prices have soared.
Some people say "Well, it's the price of petrol/transport and the cost of getting it to the supermarket" and that's a crock of crap, it doesn't increase the price by as much as you see it increase. I know farmers who grow pumpkins, for example, and they tell me that, at the prices charged at the supermarket they'd be getting a few thousand dollars for a tonne of their pumpkins.
The investigation into supermarket pricing was a con, and produced the answers that the big two wanted it to produce.
Who else has noticed that the seasonal specials you used to see in, say, spring lamb, when the price would drop dramatically, and the same with many varieties of fruit and vegetables, stopped a long time ago. The prices are now mostly regularly expensive. And the farmers are being screwed.
