Overwrought descriptions of the Flood Crisis in Brisbane were wearing, the news coverage has been annoying, with talking heads talking for the sake of making noise to go with the endless looped replays of the most spectacular terrifying images from Toowoomba and the Lockyer Valley, youngsters expressing dismay at the height of the floodwaters - like it's never happened before - and endless images of the same-old same-old with no factual or identifying information on the footage.
Started watching Despicable Me last night until I was too tired to take it in. I have to watch it and two more today.
I laugh at so many of the cute things the girls do to Gru, like the littlest one clinging to his leg when she is returned to the orphanage... I used to ride around on my dad's leg like that!
And winning the unicorn toy... hilarious.

Hi Kae, I found you on Gates of Vienna. I have to agree with you wholeheartedly about the overkill on every bloody netword in the country. Of coure our hearts are with every Queenslander at this time and we are giving what we can afford to help them out. But, once a day for two hours would get the message home.
I imagine what a person shifting in to one of the evacuation centres and having to watch the drama over and over again, perhaps even seeing their own house floating down the river or even worse the sight of a missing loved one. For me, it is too cruel and a cheap way for the media mogals to get cheap stories.
But, I add that we do feel the pain and we we could help. Money seems so unsupportive and to be there is impossible so it is a very sad and frustrating feeling for us.
I live in South West Rock a lovely part of the world and our Macleay River is ver, very high and moving quickly and delivering all sorts down the river. Where it meets the sea it beats up into a froth of cappicino looking foam. quite magnificant.
Thanks for your report, and thank to the Baron for the stories on the site.
Sincerely,June
I'll agree the TV had a bit too much to say.
The lady in the studio on Channel 7 was waffling on so much I thought she must be paid by the word!
Hi SatP
Was thinking about you thismorning, hoping you're high and dry!
Far from it Kae. I've been up to my knees in water for days.
Oh dear.
How far are you from where I am? (You can email off blog.)
A loooong way from you Kae, I am in NQ.
My connection is intermittent (still) due to the phone plug-in points having gone under. Computer & me are presently perched on milk crates. Have lots on my plate. (eg, house to rebuild, all new furniture to buy, etc etc)
Oh, well I can't offer you a feed then.
Don't fall off the milk crate!
I hope it works out for you. Reckon everyone's insurance premiums will be going up (do they ever go any other way these days?).
