SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING - SOUTHEAST QUEENSLAND
for DAMAGING WIND, FLASH FLOODING and LARGE HAILSTONESFor people in the GOLD COAST CITY, LOGAN CITY, IPSWICH CITY, SCENIC RIM, REDLAND and parts of the BRISBANE CITY, LOCKYER VALLEY and SOUTHERN DOWNS Council Areas.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 3:40 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on weather radar near Bundamba Lagoon and Greenbank. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east. They are forecast to affect Logan Village and Redbank Plains by 4:10 pm and Beenleigh, Logan City and Wacol by 4:40 pm.
****Flash flooding and damaging winds are most likely throughout the warning area depicted. Large hail is also likely near the thunderstorm cell depicted. Other cells identified on radar have been omitted to simplify this graphic.****
Damaging winds, very heavy rainfall, flash flooding and large hailstones are likely.
4cm hail, 70mm of rainfall in 30 minutes and strong winds recorded at Wonglepong at around 2:30pmEmergency Management Queensland advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure loose outdoor items.
* Avoid driving, walking or riding through flood waters.
* Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.
* Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.
* Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132 500.
The next warning is due to be issued by 4:45 pm.
