KERRY O'BRIEN: There's been a lot of talk about how you won the election with a secret Mohammad Ali "rope-a-dope" strategy. Now, assuming Lawrence Springborg, if that's true, was your designated dope; how did you rope him?The election is over. You played dirty. You had the might of the Union and their scare tactics behind you. You won. Just. Shut. Up.
ANNA BLIGH: There is no doubt that Lawrence Springborg deserves full credit for unifying the conservative forces, and that made them a much more formidable opponent because it made them electable in a way that catastrophic disunity had rendered them unelectable in previous elections.
But behind that facade of unity I was very confident that there was not the capacity or talent capable of leading Queensland through very tough times.
So my job was to draw that out and to make sure the Queensland public saw the economic credentials, or lack thereof, of the alternative government.
More here if you can stomach it.
