My Kitchen Rules

MKR used to be a good program to watch because it was a competition to find the best cooks.

Now we have people gaming the competition, with a jury not blind judging dishes amongst other unfair practices, it's no longer a program to find the best cooks in the kitchens.

I don't like this development. Who had this idea? Of the jury, those eliminated earlier in the competition, two couples who I thought deserved to be eliminated early as they were gaming the competition and who have axes to grind with the competitors still left, know who is cooking what and mark the dishes as per who cooks them.

One pair up for elimination tonight have consistently cooked well, and their dish was a hit with the celebrity chef judges, unfortunately the jury decided that they'd not worked hard enough and had enough pressure in the competition so they received a very low mark. There were two other couples who hadn't made very good dishes and they were not chosen for elimination by the judges.

This is not going to find the best cooks.

I suspect that this program has jumped the shark. I wonder what other people who have enjoyed this program in the past think of this current series.

(And four out of six adverts showing are for the ALP, bagging the power that Newman will have with a landslide win in the election, and how dangerous that will be for the state. Well, Ms Bligh et. al., what about the power that the ALP has had in Queenslad for the past 20 years and which they have misused through that time!)

I'm on leave for a few days and I've been  hearing the news during the day. Seems like our fearless leader is not getting the reception she expected from the electorate.

Interesting talking point about Tobacco companies and election advertising

The ALP is whinging about the tobacco companies putting up anti-government advertisements... they are whining that the Tobacco companies are being used by the coalition to spruik the coalition cause. They are complaining that this isn't fair... that the coalition shouldn't be supported by the tobacco companies...

I don't hear a peep about the anti-coalition advertisements bombarding us in our loungerooms in almost every advertisement break which are paid for by the unions, and which are directly supported by the ALP.

Rudd's abandoned all and every promise/policy he made/stole... There are advertisements on television by the ALP bagging Tony Abbott and Workchoices (this is what they used to fool the people last election, saying their jobs were in danger.... those who weren't concerned about the, um, "greatest moral threat to our generation"), so I suspect an election is looming very soon - 21 August would make him Rudd of the Thousand Days....

So, Wand wonders what Rudd's show stopper will be...

Any ideas what Rudd may have up his sleeve to pluck out and save the ALP from scary defeat?

Thanks Wand, you do have to suspect he has some show stopper lined up because he's such a dismal failure that the punters are sure to have seen through him.

I think it's his descent into ignominy* after Gillard becomes leader of the ALP...

Although he should already know what ignominy is, with his ego and personality disorder, I suspect he'll never know ignominy.

ANNA BLIGH: There is no doubt that Lawrence Springborg deserves full credit for unifying the conservative forces, and that made them a much more formidable opponent because it made them electable in a way that catastrophic disunity had rendered them unelectable in previous elections.

But behind that facade of unity I was very confident that there was not the capacity or talent capable of leading Queensland through very tough times.

So my job was to draw that out and to make sure the Queensland public saw the economic credentials, or lack thereof, of the alternative government.

The election is over. You played dirty. You had the might of the Union and their scare tactics behind you. You won. Just. Shut. Up.

It is my fervent wish that the ALP not get in again.

I hope that there is not a hung parliament with independents having a stronger say than they should with their one-policy dealing to let the ALP get what they want.... a bit like the alcopops tax in the Senate and the disproportionate say and control that Harradine and Brown and others have had.

The ALP "dirty tricks" advertisements aren't doing them any favours. The smearing of Clive Palmer and his connection with the LNP by Bligh and Fraser was a low blow. The ALP should really be looking inwards for shonky business and things which are not above board, or barely above board. How many millions are the Unions providing in advertising and other services to the ALP? The union advertisements are below the belt too, and in many cases untrue.

Queensland State Election II

Anyone else thoroughly annoyed by the ALP's advert which has Obama, Brown and Rudd blabbing about how bad the financial crisis is. Then Springborg saying that the financial crisis is not the things that Obama and Brown have said it is.

Brown and Obama exaggerate. Kevin's just clueless.

The world is not the same place as it was during the depression, there are many people who will not lose their jobs, people are financially better off than they were.

The economic situation is not good at all, but Australia is in a very good position, much better than the US or the UK, to ride the storm out.

I heard a programme on the radio thisafternoon, a young fellow had returned from Japan, he said that two cups of coffee were $28. He also said that Japan was in a depression. I just googled Japan depression (news) and found this.
