I've finally got to an appointment and sorted out new glasses.
The old ones were pretty scratched and the optometrist said that is probably what's caused my vision problems. I wear graduated bifocal lenses these days. I've had the same glasses for four years and four months. The script has only changed up a little for my astigmatism.
Last time I had my eyes tested I paid $500 for new glasses and received a rebate from my health fund of $305, approx.
This time the glasses have cost me, are you sitting down? $730. The frames were a bit extravagant, $329, OPSM has a $100 off the frames offer this month for frame and lens packages. Then add the $100 odd for the anti-reflective coating on the lens, and the rest is the lens. Mind you, I purchased a similar frame arrangement to the last lot, with a magnetic sunglass attachment, because I need to wear my glasses all the time.
I think next time I will be purchasing cheaper frames, although I decided that most of the frames I liked were around the $300 mark, so I've got two pairs of glasses (normal and sunnies) for the price....
I'll be speaking with the health fund on Monday to find out why the rebate is miniscule.
