Three Aussies killed in Kandahar, US troops killed in Kabul
An Afghan in an army uniform opened fire on a parade and killed three Australian soldiers, one Afghan interpreter and wounded seven.
A bomber rammed an armoured bus and killed 5 US troops, three civilians and a police man in Kabul.

Pashmina
As you may know I send parcels to soldiers/sailors/airmen/airwomen deployed overseas myself and for the local RSL - I'm also involved in the site Ocean, Sky & Khaki to get that info out about about how to send parcels to Aussie service people deployed overseas.
On Monday I received a card from the PO to pick up an item of mail.
Today I was able to get there before closing.
I was delighted to see it was from AFPO 13, Afghanistan.
It contained a postcard with a brief note of thanks and a beautiful pashmina.
I am delighted.
I wish I could thank the person who sent it.... so if you are out there, thanks so much, it's lovely!

Hanging Abbott - MSM's favourite passtime
Tony Abbott can't do or say anything right. Anyone would think that he was the PM and the MSM was determined to destroy him.
Whenever anything is done or said about The Government which could be criticised the MSM seems to go to Abbott and ask him what he'd do, what his policies are... Hello? Tony Abbott is the leader of the opposition.
So, today's TEN Breaking News is that Tony insulted the memory of a Queensland soldier killed recently in Afghanistan. I've just read the article in the Hun and honestly, truly, the idiom used is one which is well understood by those in the services. That expression is used all the time. It's a way of coping with the awful things which cannot be changed, but which must be dealt with.
Bad shit happens when you are a soldier in a war zone. If the MSM doesn't get that, particularly the juvenile dope trying to put Abbott on the spot and receiving no reply, they should pack up their crayons and quit.

Sick of ALP lies
There's been a big deal made out of Tony Abbott's reply to a question on why he wouldn't visit Australian troops in Afghanistan on a tour with Gillard. His reason has been lambasted and trumpeted as a "weak excuse" by all the MSM outlets.
Now we find out why he made such a lame excuse - and the whole reason had to make an excuse is that Gillard put him on the spot by publicising that she'd offered for him to travel with her when she would have been wholly aware of his plans to travel to Afghanistan on his way home from his UK trip.
The lame excuse given by Abbott just shows very well that the man is not an accomplished liar. He was uncomfortable with the question, he surely didn't expect it and it threw him.
